The five hundred embossed on the coin was representing the value of it. Five hundred means 1 of this coin was the value of five hundred small coins (of the diameter ranging from 21mm to 25mm).
The Manchu language embossed on the coin means Baoquan (寶泉), this was indicating where it was made. Baoquan Bureau (寶泉局) was the Qing official coinage bureau, making all the coins to be used in the areas close to the Qing Capital.
