Ancient glass is an important artificial material for tracing mutual cultural and technical exchanges between the East and West. During the Warring States Period in China, glass eyebeads popular and closely associated with social, economic and cultural development at that time.

Early Chinese eyebeads were exetremely simple, all have single dots for eyes, and they were very similar to those from Western Asia.

China only started making eyebeads with Chinese characteristics around the late Spring and Autumn or early Warring States Period.

Chinese eyebeads may be divided into four categories: composite eyebeads, latticed eyebeads, square eyebeads, and glazed pottery eyebeads.
