Coin

Chinese coinage started as early as in The Warring States Period spanning into the late Qing Dynasty. Coinage was handmade either by using the mold to make multiple coins or an individual “mother coin” to press into different materials then pour into the metal, copper and bronze molten. These methods and materials were most used in ancient Chinese coinage; rare precious metals of silver and gold were mainly used by emperors as recognition or awards.

Western machine-struck coinage technology was introduced during the Late Qing Dynasty. The most significant changes made with the machine-struck coinage the disappearance of the square hole in the middle of the coins and more complexed design patterns, for instance the different kinds of the dragons and flags.
